Excerpt from A Treatise of the Sabbath and the Lords-Day: Distinguished Into Foure Parts Their variance and difagrecment is about the nature, be inning, and particular obfervation of the day which is eparatcd from all other daycs, that it may be cfpecial ly applied to Gods fervice 5 to wit, 1 If it be a thing of naturall j ufiice, ofperpetuall necellity, and whereunto all are tied by a morall commandement appertaining to the New as well as to the Old T efiament, that offeven daies of the weeke one be kept for the end aforefaid. 2 Ifbe fore the Law was given by due/is to the people of Hard yea if from the beginning of the world God himfclfe made the particular delignation of this day, f_et ring it apart for his fervice, and commanding to Adam, and to all his pofierity, the hallowing and keeping of it. 3. If underthe New Teftament there be a divine ordi nance of fuch a day ofrell, as well as there was under the 0ld Tefiament. 4. And if by Gods command thecon fciences of faithful! Chriflians are under the Gofpell as much obliged to hallow it, as the Iewes were under the Law, and for the better, and more religious fanfiification thereof, to abltainc from all outward workes, whlich it?!
