Description

School experience is the single most significant component of trainee teachers' courses. During this often stressful period, the preparation and effective teaching of lessons is required, often in someone else's classroom, with someone else's pupils. This text prepares student teachers for the pressures and challenges that they will face on school experience programmes and then as they move from school experience to their first job. The "story", as the expert trainee becomes the novice teacher is set in the context by extracts from numerous genuine case studies, which the author uses to highlight the highs and lows, problems, pitfalls and possibilities of the life in school. To help the student further, the book also contains keynote points (which summarize the text), it considers the points (to encourage reflection), and it makes comments that will underpin issues of practice with relevant theory.
