An important goal in the study of Kabbalah is to use one's knowledge to influence one's destiny. What we see around us is subjective and exists only in relation to ourselves. Our perception depends on our organs of sensation: if they were different, we would perceive another world around us. Author Biography

A scientist by profession, Michael Laitman arrived in Israel in 1974 at the age of 27. Completely secular at the time, his search for spirituality eventually brought him to study under Rabbi Baruch Ashlag, the son of Rabbi Yehuda Ashlag (Baal HaSulam). He served as the personal assistant to Rabbi Baruch Ashlag from 1979 to 1991, and upon his rabbi's passing, was handed down personal transcripts from one of the greatest Kabbalists of our time.
