Description

This book is full of new ways of interpreting your dreams. These short reflections, share insights from over 30 years of personal dream observations by psychologist Dr. Richard Bargdill. Passages address a multitude of topics such as dj vu, prophetic dreams, recurring dreams, lucid dreaming, sleep studies, space-time continuum, dream recall tips, creativity in dreams, reoccurring dream characters, dead-relative dreams, and more. Throughout, he tips his hat to many other dreams researchers, such as Freud, Jung, Hobson, Boss, Krippner, Jaffe, and others. However, he breaks new ground by suggesting dreams are visual representation of common sayings in our native language (idioms). Hence, the common dream of climbing up mountain only to fall near the peak might be asking us if our performance, in some area of our life, has "fallen off a cliff." He coins new terms like "nightmirth," which he juxtaposes to a "nightmare" because one wakes up laughing and joyful instead of fearful. He asserts that dreams are hypothetical situations that put us in moral quandaries so that we might think deeply about our own dream-me's character. Then our awake-me can learn from this experience and be a better person. Dreams are school for our soul! He suggests dreams can function as karmic inversions by putting us into the same scenarios that we, in real life, have put others into. There are also relationship and talent inversions where the dream simulates a "role reversal" that ultimately gets us to think about the golden rule!
