Like The New Order its a decent, solid shooter with good combat mechanics.
Unlike the New Order I didn't find it fun to play.
I didn't get very far into it but the early game at least is very
repetitive. You enter an area, sneak around and try to kill the commanders
before they sound the alarm and call in reinforcements, then finish off the
remaining soldiers, proceed to the next area and repeat the process. You're
forced into stealth to take out the commanders, usually two in each area,
because if they see you they call in reinforcements continually until you kill
them. I got really, really tired of this to the point that I groaned whenever
I entered a new area and saw the ‘radio signal detected’ message on
the HUD.
This wouldn't be that bad but for lack of a manual save. I would spend ten
minutes or more sneaking through an area, taking out enemies only to be spotted
and I would have to quit and load the last checkpoint and do it all over again,
or else try and fight through wave after wave of enemies until I could kill the
commanders. Neither option is my idea of fun.
Another, albeit minor thing that annoyed me was the over abundance of ammo
and other pickups and the way they were just scattered around the levels for
you find.
I tried to stick with it to the point in the game with the zombies, hoping
that I'd seen the last of the ‘radio signal detected’ message, but I got
stuck at one point trying to fight my way across a bridge past waves of
respawning enemies and I realised I wasn't enjoying the game and gave up.
