Artillery in the age of Marlborough was in the process of evolving from an arm of primarily psychological impact to highly professional, well organized and extremely effective member of combined arms tactics. In the War of the Spanish Succession, artillery was heavy and cumbersome, but often necessary to a general's plans.
This set contains 2 early 18th century field pieces on wheeled carriages suitable for creating artillery batteries during the period of the War of Spanish Succession. Also included are 8 crewman and 2 senior officers on horseback, bases, cannonballs, powder barrels, water buckets and more. Cannon can be assembled using either the 12 pounder barrel or smaller 8 pounder.
