TRON, a great movie… In theory possibly providing a game to match… Well that's what you would think. All TRON: Evolution brings to the foreground is, slow gameplay, controls that could be better, awkward camera angles & a multiplayer I would rather not play. All this will make online trophies hard to get, an frustrating… The idea is good, the execution is flawed.
Although the general plot is simple, there seems to be a lot of padding out with gameplay. I may only think this because a good story is the first thing I desire in a disk-based game, but a lot of the exploring felt tedious with a lot of the level design looking highly repetitive. There are some exceptions, ie levels that appear to have sharp, rocky surfaces but as that's all the level is, it gets dull within about 2 minutes.
Combat is the highlight as it's the best part of the single player experience. Almost anything can be defeated by on particular disk though, so despite the option of 4, you'll only need the one.
The best part of the game, has to be the multi-player, which is a good thing due to the EXP earned being shared accross both single and multiplayer. To enforce the idea above, fighting is even better when it's played in a multiplayer arena with various powerups and plenty of space to move around.
The graphics for the PS3 version are what would be expected for an Unreal Engine based game, but some of the cutscenes look blurred and quite messy. I wish I had a 3D TV to play this game with however as I feel that this is something the developers were pushing and I'm missing out.
TRON: Evolution is an immersive third person action-adventure game that pulls the player into the unique digital world of TRON. Gamers explore TRON's cities using the free running phenomenon Parkour, navigate among unique rebel factions, and fight an epic battle against a dictator’s seemingly unstoppable army in the prequel story to the highly anticipated film, TRON: Legacy.

Review by Gamespot
“…You don't have to be a fan of the TRON universe to enjoy Evolution. Running through its digital world provides plenty of fun, and while its combat isn't too taxing, there are still enough good moments to make the experience worthwhile. It may lose steam well before its downbeat ending, but TRON: Evolution is a still worthwhile trip into the realm of the digital.” 7/10
