The Vortex is a 2012 American sci-fi action film on DVD, directed by Peter Paul Basler.

Somewhere in the barren lands of the Middle East, a convoy of American soldiers is murdered by otherworldly creatures. As a result, a Special Ops Seal Team is deployed, led by Lieutenant Steven Raiger, the reluctant Dr. William Marx and his ex-wife, Commander Catherine Deckert. Their mission: to seek out and destroy what the soldiers had been looking for – a wormhole with the power to destroy mankind! Marx and Catherine find out that their former colleague, Sydney Gerber, was among the convoy of American troops that have now gone missing, it is believed that Gerber is most likely behind the wormholes creation and he may be the key to stopping it from becoming more unstable. As their desert mission gets more and more dangerous Marx and Catherine soon realize that they must work together despite whatever differences they may have had in the past…or feelings they may still have for each other.
