a great film ruined by a poor video transfer. it's too dark with poor colour fidelity. the old dvd looked better than this mess ! whoever's responsible for this travesty should be shot ! the bd has better sound and a good michael mann commentary and a new documentary.
The indians were systematically pushed out of their land by white settlers, farmers and the cavalry. This film gives some idea of the struggle and loss of one indian tribe which is better documented in more recent films and documentaries. None the less a good film to start to understand the loss of indian native communities.
British and French troops do battle in colonial America, with aid from various native American war parties. The British troops enlist the help of local colonial militia men, who are reluctant to leave their homes undefended. A budding romance between a British officer's daughter and an independent man who was reared as a Mohawk complicates things for the British officer, as the adopted Mohawk pursues his own agenda despite the wrath of different people on both sides of the conflict.
