Description

'In the middle of the night, in the middle of the winter, in the middle of a war, a puppy was born.' This fictional story was inspired by the story of Freda, a Harlequin Great Dane and mascot of the NZ Rifle Brigade during World War 1. The ANZAC Puppy is a simple story about the reality of war, hardship, friendship and love.

Author Biography:

Peter Millett is a full-time author living on Auckland's North Shore. "When I was at school I used to dream up stories about spies, superheroes and alien teachers. I was so excited to discover that nearly thirty years later I would get to have these stories produced as cool-looking children's books sold in different countries all around the world. What a rush!" Among other titles, Peter Millett is author of the Boy Zero Wannabe Hero series, published by Faber & Faber. Trish Bowles is a self-taught artist, and has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She has now illustrated over 20 books, and is always happiest when on the drawing board. As a freelance artist Trish does a variety of art jobs as well as illustrating children's books, such as individual commissions, paintings, book covers and commercial work. Although she very much enjoys the more commercial work, her first love will always be illustrating books. Trish lives in Christchurch with her husband and two elderly cats.
