A good continuation of a true historical story set in the rugged hills of Scotland which will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Description

Sawney: Flesh of Man (aka Lord of Darkness) is a British horror film bringing the legend of Scottish cannibal Sawney Bean and his murderous family savagely to life.

Sawney, a religious psychopathic killer (played by David Hayman) drives a devilish Black Cab, stalking the towns and cities, abducting unholy souls for his communion of sacrifices. His insane family of inbred killers Judd and Jake, use their agility to wreak slaughter and havoc among their victims, who are then dragged to Sawney's lair in the hills, where they are raped, tortured and cannibalised.

This is juxtaposed with the controversial police investigation to solve the resultant spate of missing persons. In the bleak rugged mountains where caves hold the grisly remains of travellers who have met gruesome ends at the hands of the Black Cab driver Sawney Bean, a crime journalist documents the incompetency of law enforcement in solving the case while an inspector despite being hampered by the sensational news headlines is determined to bring the killers to justice.

Gruesome and compelling, Sawney: Flesh of Man is not a film for the faint of heart.

Sawney Flesh of Man Reviews

“..it's awesomely entertaining, cheerfully offensive and, frankly, quite mad in places. With a location that looks lovely (it's even better looking than most modern American backwoods movies), good music and decent acting, Sawney: Flesh of Man is surprisingly great.” horrortalk.com

Sawney: Flesh of Man takes place in modern day, which makes it feel similar to any number of recent slasher flicks, but it also has one foot planted firmly in a grim, gruesome reality that elevates the film well beyond many of its ilk. Sawney: Flesh of Man, for example, is shot remarkably well. Whether we're deep within a dreary cave splattered with blood and body parts or outside among some of Scotland's most harshly beautiful mountains, Ranald Wood's lighting and cinematography prevents Sawney from ever looking rushed, cheap, or amateurish…Backed by a few solid performances, a tone that balances between over-the-top gruesome and tongue-in-cheek playful, and an unexpectedly intense score by Jody Jenkins, Sawney: Flesh of Man may have a few "first-timer” rough spots, but on the whole it's an admirably confident collection of carnage from the fine folks of Scotland." Fearnet.com

Sawney: Flesh of Man (Lord of Darkness) brings a unique spin to the usual backwoods goofery we’ve grown accustomed to in similar American releases. Nearly every messy chunk of the human anatomy is thrown around like confetti in much the same fashion, but there’s a sense of spontaneous fun here often absent from U.S. productions. The Woods (the last name appears on several occasions in the credits) may not be cannibals, but they are indeed one crazy-ass clan. Keep ‘em coming, boys.” horrornews.net

“…an entertainingly bloody romp that seldom pauses for breath or the notion of dignity. You do not have to look too hard to find the weaker elements, but this film was just made to be enjoyed” 7/10 ukhorrorscene.com
