NME's ‘Queen of All Pop 2008’, Santigold, returns with the release of her eagerly anticipated sophomore album ‘Master of My Make Believe’.
Recorded in Los Angeles, Jamaica and New York, the album features collaborations with Major Lazer producer Switch, Q-Tip, TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek, Yeah Yeah Yeahs vocalist Karen O and guitarist Nick Zinner, John Hill, Greg Kurstin and Ricky Blaze, among others.
Like her 2008 self-titled debut, Santigold says ‘Master of My Make Believe’ is sonically eclectic but with some “epic” curve-balls thrown into the mix.
The album comes hot on the heels of her recent performances at SXSW, which received rave reviews. Spin magazine said “there was no question one of 2012′s pop queens was certainly in the building” while Billboard commented “Santigold remade South By Southwest into an eccentric dance party.”
First single “Disparate Youth” is a contemporary rebel song with a new spin on punk & reggae that underscores its message of pushing through all roadblocks and claiming “a life worth fighting for.”
