Before reading this review a few things to note:
- Only used it to play Street Fighter V – so review will be based on my experiences using it with SFV
- Bought this controller during the Stock Clearance sale(50% off), so in my opinion, it was well worth the money spent. I think I would still pay full price for it after using it for about 2 weeks, yeah I could have got a Stick(Arcade stick) around that price but controller feels more natural for me. Also, a really good buy if you use claw style to play.
- Only used on PC
Pros: solid feel / nice buttons ( the buttons have a sort of arc to them so it might feel different for the first time, but you get used to it fairly quickly) / comfortable to hold (both normal grip and claw grip) / works on PC/PS4/PS3 / accurate D-Pad (I received version 2 of the controller which has the revamped D-Pad see Extra Detail for more information)
Cons: At first the uneven grip lengths was felt weird at first (but after an hour of usage it was fine) / fingers marks show up on the plastic of the controller
Overall I'm very happy with this product. It was all I asked for and more. Now I spend less time raging at old PS4 controller D-Pad for my Mistakes and spend more timing learning combos and match-ups (definitely an increase in the accuracy of my inputs using the Mad Catz Street Fighter V FightPad Pro
Extra Detail: I wasn't sure about buying this controller at first due to the many negative reviews I had seen online, about the d-pad. Also, the product shown in the images of the listing is that of the 1st version (which these negative reviews were directed). After doing extensive research online my options were the following, Hori Fight Commander, Hori Fightstick mini and the Mad Catz Street Fighter V FightPad Pro. At first I was leading towards the Hori Fight Commander, due to it been cheaper than the other options. I then stumbled upon the Mad Catz Street Fighter V FightPad Pro on Mightape for half price. Again the pictures are of the first edition of the controller which was known for having issues with its D-Pad. I asked Mightape, through the help section, if the product was the first or second edition of the controller, Mightape replied, saying that it was the first edition. I decided to buy it anyway to see for myself what it was like. When it was delivered I received the second edition of the controller. ( the D-Pad is different than the one shown above) which was a bonus. I only just seen that the controller is still on sale till the 25th of April 2017. So I recommend asking Mightape before purchasing this product if you have a preference to what version of the controller your after. I hope that this review has provided some insight on the controller and whats its like.
