Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre is a 1970 television film directed by Delbert Mann starring George C. Scott and Susannah York. It is based on the 1847 novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.

Charlotte Brontë's classic Victorian novel is brought to the screen by Academy Award® winning director Delbert Mann (Marty) with Academy Award® nominee Susannah York (They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?) playing one of literature’s most endearing characters, Jane Eyre. An orphan girl with a troubled past, young Jane is sent to Lowood School, an educational institution destined to challenge her to the very core.

Earning a reliable reputation, she secures a position as a governess to the ward of Edward Rochester (Academy Award® winner George C. Scott, Patton) at Thornfield Hall.
