Be careful not to buy into the hype with this one. If you're looking for a game that's more of a fun sandbox than a deep RPG experience, you'll be incredibly happy. But if you want more meat on the bones than a casual gamer, then the fun but easy combat (you can't actually die in the game), the frustratingly obtuse map&inventory layout (in fact there's no actual world map and your inventory menu is incredibly cluttered), and the flawed clothing/stats system (there's no armour, just suits/clothes, and you'll end up just choosing the ones with good stats, meaning you often look really ridiculous), means veteran RPG'ers may be left unimpressed. Add to this the ultimately boring and repetitive jobs minigames (apart from bounty hunting), and the entertaining but flawed social system (NPCs always have info about what expression you should use in order to win their favour, which makes the expression system all too transparent; also having a wife is more of a nag than a perk), and there may be enough niggles here to mute some enthusiasm. However, you may find that the positives outweigh these more gamer-oriented dissatisfactions – the vibrant world, the humour, the ability to purchase basically every building and business, and the cute gimmick of the trainable dog – and if so Fable 2 should entertain, if not fully satisfy.
