I brought the game and love it. The things darrel is complaining about are why I like it…it starts out hard, you do struggle to take on more than 3 zombies at a time but you work up to being crazy kick ass. At the beginng you run around with a pipe and wrench picking your fights and taking pit zombied here and there then running to the roof tops. After awhile, you can kill 5 zombies in a single swing of an electrified long sword. Awesome. The best part is the day / night variance, night had myself running scared until I was stronger and gave a real sense of urgency about finding shelter, later on you can only want to go out at night because it is so much harder and the mechanics are amazing. I never really write reviews but darrell's annoyed it – it isnt unbalanced…it is just a game who doesnt baby you

"Pretty darn good but not as perfect as other reviews say"
4 stars"

The comparisons to Far Cry are evident from the start. It's first person, open world and looks amazing…but that's about it for the Far Cry comparisons. The control scheme seems really odd (I have always played games where X is jump with the occasional O) but in this game it's mapped to the shoulder buttons. However the controls were surprisingly easy to get used to. It took me a very short time to stop throwing out all my valuable items when I meant to jump. The graphics are pretty dam good, right up there with Killzone Shadow Fall. The gameplay in repeatative but fun. Yes it's tough to start with when you have no good skills or weapons (unless you google where to find the easter egg weapons) HOWEVER when you start getting better weapons and equipment you end up with a stockpile so big you never need to worry about being outgunned. Gunplay is also only a small part of the game (that goodness because the aiming is stiff as heck) The first person free-running is fun ONCE you get used to it. You have to be looking exactly at what you are wanting ti grab otherwise you fall to your death which happens alot. The voice acting is great and it's hilarious hearing the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog as the main character. The story of what's happening outside the city really pulled me in more than the main characters story which is great in its own right. But its not all sunshine and flowers. Downsides are as follows: Stupid online trophies CHEAP EXPLOADING ENEMY PLACEMENT (seriously you'll spend close to an hour kicking butt, earning xp, grabbing gear then you'll lock pick a door only to walk into an exploading zombie that kills you instantly takes away your xp and sends you back to your last checkpoint) First person free-running in unresponsive at the worst times (infrequent but still annoying even after patches) The fact that you loose a tonne of hard earned xp when you die (wouldn't be a bad idea except you almost always die because Crane didn't grab that ledge he was rubbing up against and falls to his death, or BS exploading zombies) That eater egg machete dissappears when you throw it :'( Challenges suck Missable side missions. That kind of seems like alot of negatives bur they're more just minor annoyances (apart from the exploading zombie placement and freerunning bugs those are frustrating as heck). This isn't as good as Far Cry but it's way better than Dead Island. Although comparing it to other games isn't fair. Super stupidly gory zombie free running action, pretty dam good if you can get it at a decent price.

"Totally mind blowing"

This game is sooooo bloody fantastic. I would recommend this game highly. It is one of the top games I've played yet on Ps4, and this game will not be leaving my small collection of games until the Ps5 arrives :)

Description

Dying Light is a first-person, action survival horror game set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, players traverse an expansive urban environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population. At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. Players must use everything in their power to survive until the morning’s first light.

Good Night. Good Luck.

Features:

  • Survive the Night – During the day, players roam free and scavenge for supplies and weapons. But at night, the world undergoes a deadly transformation: the hunter becomes the hunted as the infected grow more aggressive and numerous, and something far more sinister awakens to stalk its prey.
  • Free Running Movement – Whether tracking prey or escaping predators, Dying Light lets players swiftly navigate the world by seamlessly leaping between buildings, grappling up walls and pouncing on unsuspecting enemies.
  • Welcome to the Quarantine – Dying Light is set in a vast open world, delivering expansive and varied environments, a wide variety of enemy classes and a hopeless tale of survival where resources are scarce and the infected are not the only threat.
  • Brutal Melee and Ranged Combat – get up-close using a variety of light and heavy weapons including knives, bats, axes, sledgehammers and more exotic weaponry or utilise guns and other firepower to take down enemies from a distance.
  • Choose Your Play Style – Dying Light features four playable characters that can be fully customised and upgraded to match any play style.
  • Craft Your Weapon – Why use a wrench when you can use a wrench wrapped in electrified barb wire? Dying Light’s sizeable crafting system enables players to create a slew of new, more potent weapons and equipment, as well as specialised ammunition.
  • Breathtaking Visuals and Gameplay – Dying Light is the first game powered by Chrome Engine 6, a cutting edge incarnation of Techland’s proprietary technology, designed from the ground up for the new console generation, DirectX 11 and other advanced solutions.
