MAN TGX, Houghton Parkhouse Livestock Transporter from Corgi's Hauliers of Renown series.
From a one man operation with a single lorry to a multi-million pound transport business, Bill Bowring of Bowring Transport has come a long way since starting up his small livestock transporting business in 1951. Based in Warsop, Bowring Transport is now one of the largest privately owned transport fleets in the East Midlands area. At its beginning the business began moving livestock for farmers to the markets of North Nottinghamshire before progressing into general agricultural haulage, carrying loads such as fertiliser, corn and sugar beet.
Bill’s wife and two sons formed Bowring Transport Limited in 1974 branching out into the transportation of building waste and materials for road reconstruction. The company purchased its first articulated vehicle in 1976, expanding the fleet of eight wagons and fifteen staff. Today Bowring Transport has a fleet of over sixty vehicles that cover all aspects of specialist haulage.
