The book was more than I expected to be honest.
This Contemporary Atlas of NZ is absolutely brilliant. I wasn't fully aware of the detail that it would go into. Geology, Mineral Resources, Climate, Rainfall, Soils, Vegetation, Natural Hazards, Agriculture, Forestry…etc. If these sort of things intertest you, then buy it. If you have intermediate aged school children…definitely buy it!!
I bought this as a companion to the New Zealand Historical Atlas, also published by Bateman. It is smaller than the Historical Atlas, but still a good size. It is well illustrated, well written and well referenced. I'm glad I purchased it.
The Atlas is very informative telling you about the types of minerals, cultures, weather, terrain etc about New Zealand. The atlas is a very worthwhile purchase.
There are lots of maps and info in this book that really show how little we probably all know about our own land. Some of the charts and things can be a little tricky to follow but regardless there's plenty to learn and use to start conversations.
This atlas has lots of interesting information not found in an ordinary atlas. Very clear maps and illustrations. I have only read Russell Kirkpatrick's Fantasy novels so this is something different for me..
