A third transmission from the private universe of Edward Balian and Ray George; home-recorded rock from the 70s/80s that crunches on top but is underscored with synthsome melodies.
The George-Edwards Group was the bedroom progressive pop outfit of two multi-instrumentalists, Raymond M George and Edward S Balian, who started making music together in '60s Detroit, finally putting together a white-label LP called 38:38 in 1977 which was pressed onto 100 LPs to try and find record company backing that never came.
This album lay forgotten until 2009 when Drag City reissued it, finally unleashing this duo's bizarre mixture of experimental synths, overdriven guitar heroics, hazy acoustic jangle and grandiose melodies.
This was deemed enough of a success to warrant a sequel, ‘Archives’, delving a little further into the pair's, erm, archives, and here's a third chapter, ‘Chapter III’, with another dozen tracks for your 21st century ears to soak up.
