Introspective, pensive, and contemplative are a few of the adjectives that come to mind when describing Bare Bones, Madeleine Peyroux's third album for Decca/Rounder. But don't be fooled by the title, the music is not "stripped to the bone", quite the contrary. The music is lush, like falling into a down comforter, enveloping the senses with warmth.
Peyroux had a hand writing all the songs on the album, including collaborations with producer Larry Klein, Walter Becker and Joe Henry. With 'Bare Bones' Peyroux had crafted her best album yet, an artistic breakthrough that finds her sublime voice wrapped around a collection of personal songs that she helped craft from their inception.
