The gameplay is good fun and lasts the distance well, but the place where the game really, truly shines is the portrayal of the characters. Everyone speaks in a way reminiscent of their G1 counterparts, and they are all blocky and familiar again. Even though the style is a little darker than G1, it's a welcome change from the recent influx of Bayformers' spiky alien mess into the style of Transformers.

The fights are fluid and challenging without being too frustrating, and the Transformations are so smooth that mastering both forms in battle is a key strategy when dealing with some of the tougher fights and boss battles.

You'll hear the characters' banter all throughout the missions, and if you're a fan of G1 you'll be delighted at just how true it is to the original style, even with a helping of old-school 80's corn in places. I was hooked in the first few minutes and I knew that this was the Transformers game that fans of the old series have been waiting for. I sincerely hope it gets a good sequel.

The game is absolutely awesome! Single player is hugely entertaining and rewarding especially for fanboys. Multiplayer is great. If only it wasn't let down by the lack of dedicated servers and error prone leader boards. Would have been great if Activision/Total Interactive had actually released it in Australasia instead of forcing imports and thus a small local player base.

Like the title says, this game could of been so much better. Yes it is fan service at its best but, honestly the setting for the game is such a bad idea as everything basically looks the same (metal coloured)

They would of been better off setting it on earth, or even at least setting it mostly on Cybertron's sur­face, instead of navigating corridors all the time, a real buzz kill.

That being said, the voice acting is superb, and the characters feel like they belong to the universe. Controls are good, animation is good, AI is average, and the multiplayer is fun for a while, but wears thin after a couple weeks.
