"A fast paced ride with a solid plot and entertaining gameplay."

Dead Space Extraction is the first light gun style game I've ever played. Trying a new genre is always an interesting experience, and this certainly did not disappoint. What I found here was a well polished gaming experience with plenty of story to go along with it.

Most of the game is spent shooting at enemies with the Wii remote, a task that is made very satisfying with the use of tight, smooth response to the controller and a large variety of weapons and enemies during the course of the story. Fighting them is very satisfying, with plenty of different tactics to try and well balanced difficulty. Aside from your weapon's standard functions, there are secondary fire modes, melee attacks and creature slowing stasis abilities that will all prove useful through the game's levels.

There are also powerups to upgrade weapons and restore ammunition and health, various logs that explain more backstory and debris that can be used to fight enemies. Grabbing these keeps the player busy even during the quiet periods, and it is pleasing to see that even though one cannot control actual character movement, there is still plenty to do.

The game's visuals are also very pleasing with the atmosphere conveyed very well through the use of lighting. This is also helped by the superb audio. Turning the volume up really heightens the tension.

Last on the list, but certainly not least, is the game's story. While I did not expect much from a shooter set in space, Dead Space Extraction has some very compelling moments and some great character development. The on rails approach also allows for some very cinematic moments, and I found the whole experience full of some absolutely memorable moments.

If you're looking for some gripping action paired with an intriguing story and wrapped up in atmospheric visuals and audio, Dead Space Extraction is definitely worth a look.
