This screen has some nice color reproduction, a big step up from TN panels. For a PLS (may as well be an IPS), and has a pretty good gtg response time. Also, the viewing angle color distortion that all TN panels have is a non issue for PLS, so this monitor is great for any work related tasks that need good colour reproduction.
The resolution is a nice upgrade for those already using a 16:10 monitor at 1680×1050, but only a minor upgrade from a 1080p monitor, however you do get a bump in vertical screen realestate from 1080 lines to 1200.
Many monitors have overcharged panels to achieve a fast response time. It can lead to some nasty looking visuals during gaming, such as bright trailing edges. This monitor gives 3 overclocking settings, including disabled, which give the control to remove the overcharge artifacting which looks worse than normal ghosting (IMO).
My only gripe about this monitor is IPS glow – It doesn't have any blacklight bleed though, which is great, but the IPS glow is no so great from the two bottom corners. Not bad, but not good either. It's hard to impossible to avoid IPS glow though, so I didn't mark down the score. If you getting this for gaming, in dark scenes you will notice the glow – but it only bothered me for one or two days, and now I don't notice it until I think about it. For desktop use the glow is invisible, as usual.
Yes, there are better ISP or PLS panels out there… But due to the low price, great colour reproduction, lack of distortion from normal viewing angles and good response time, I would recommend the monitor as a great multipurpose monitor that is great for both work and gaming.
