ACT II was originally created by Golden Valley Microwave Foods** group based in Edina, MN with a simple but bold idea – to make products exclusively for use in microwave ovens in 1978. After few alternation, ACT II was developed with a new popcorn bag, which allows the kernels to pop in the bag instead of the *ACT I, a frozen product sold in refrigerated vending machines.
The company later was acquired by ConAgra Foods, Inc., who produced more than 1 billion bags of popcorn in 1999. Now they are the largest manufacturer of microwave popcorn in the world!
