Top 5 Albums Releasing This Week!

By Dan

Check out our top new albums for this week, releasing on the 12th of September!

1. Train: Bulletproof Picasso – Three-time Grammy winning San Francisco band Train's upcoming new album, Bulletproof Picasso was produced by previous Train collaborator Butch Walker, and reflects frontman-singer/songwriter Pat Monahan's penchant for distinctive musical stylings. “I've always wanted to emotionally connect with people through the songs,” says Monahan. “But I also want to get into people's lives with this album. We're very excited about Bulletproof Picasso and we're looking forward to performing some of the new songs for all our fans.”

2. Counting Crows: Somewhere Under Wonderland – Writing of material for the new album began early in 2013 and continued during that year's summer tour. Duritz explained in concert that “God of Ocean Tides” was the first new song he'd written in years, and was inspired by leaving Nashville on their tour bus at two in the morning. Duritz, Powers, Vickrey, and Immerglück got together in New York City that August for a 10-day writing session during which they wrote six songs. Expecting to go into the studio in late Fall 2013, the band began recording for the new album in early December and finished in February 2014. Any fan of the Crows know to expect an album that is sure to touch your soul and get your feet tapping!

3. The Madden Brothers: Greetings From California – Having already earned a place in history with Good Charlotte's radio-ready pop-punk sound captured on such albums as their 3× US platinum breakthrough The Young and the Hopeless and over 10 million combined sales from their 5 albums sold worldwide, Joel and Benji were eager to flex their creative muscles with an entirely new project. ‘The idea was to not hide behind a band name or a genre, but rather to write some songs, and find someone to record them and help us deliver the truest picture of who we are musically,’ Benji says. The result is Greetings From California…, which showcases the Madden's killer knack for melody, radiant sibling harmonies, and heartfelt story-telling.

4. Sleepwave: Broken Compass – Sleepwave is the new band from former Underoath singer Spencer Chamberlain, featuring new band mate Stephen Bowman.

With Chamberlain at the helm, Underoath became a major force in the post-hardcore scene, with two gold albums, multiple Grammy nominations, and crossover success unusual for bands in the scene. Now come Sleepwave with their debut album Broken Compass, the next step in the evolution of Spencer Chamberlain. With an even more melodic, accessible sound, sacrificing none of the intense songwriting that garnered Underoath and a massive following, Broken Compass is sure to put Sleepwave on the map from day one.

5. Slash: World On Fire – World On Fire is the new album from SLASH featuring Myles Kennedy* & **the Conspirators, and it comes on full throttle and in-your-face, a hunk of burning rock ‘n’ roll that takes no prisoners. Intensifying the band's sound and vision, it marks the follow-up to their succesful and acclaimed 2012 debut, Apocalyptic Love.

‘We've been playing together for awhile and I think it's gotten to the point where everybody's comfortable in our own skins,’ says Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist SLASH, who has amassed album sales of over 100 million copies, with seven GRAMMY nominations, a GRAMMY award and countless accolades. ‘It turned out to be a very easy process. We definitely had chemistry from the very first time we entered a room together. It was instantaneous magic.’
