1. You+Me –
Rose Ave – You+Me consists of Alecia
Moore (AKA P!nk) and Dallas Green (City and Colour)
and is a passion project for the two. The artists met through
Alecia’s husband Carey Hart and instantly felt a connection and wanted to
work together. Alecia invited Dallas to Los Angeles to write a song or two and
ended up writing 8 songs together in 1 week. The duo then decided to finish
and record an album.

1.Streets
of Laredo – Volume I & II – Brooklyn-based, New
Zealanders Streets Of Laredo release their first full-length
album, “Volume I & II”. Destined to be a soundtrack for
spring, this album is a sing-a-long collision of jangling harmonies, stomping
percussion, horns and guitars.
A trip back to New Zealand saw the band record the bones of
“Volume I & II” – ten songs inspired by their old
life in NZ and their new life in NYC – in an old converted Auckland theatre
where they locked down their distinctive sound. Like Bob Dylan running late to a
Ramones concert or Paul Simon getting blind drunk with a Grizzly Bear, however
you describe them the resulting songs and sound have had an instant effect on
fans and critics alike.

1. Tove
Lo – Queen Of The Clouds – Swedish songbird Tove
Lo is rapidly winning over audiences. The sparkly, synth-ridden
track,‘Habits (Stay High),’ is an irresistible dance floor
number with a decidedly dark backbone – using substances to deal with
heartbreak – and according to the singer, creating a slick pop jam like this
one is her way of dealing with relationship obstacles. Of “Not On Drugs,”
Pitchfork says “Now…she's back on her feet and reaching for the
stars—she's not on drugs, she's just in love, and she has the post-Icona Pop
beat drop to prove it”
“For me it's easier to write and sing songs about my feelings than
talking them out with people” she explained. “It's my way of
working through things”

Well folks, we're over three quarters of the way through the
year already and my word, has it been a superb year for music. A tonne
of fantastic albums have released already with even more to come before the
year end.
With my position here, I'm exposed to all sorts of music and have been
experimenting with all manner of genres outside the realms of what I would
typically listen to. Doing this, I've discovered some excellent albums that
would normally not have been on my radar at all. I thought I'd let you guys
know what my favourite albums so far this year have been.
Without further ado, here are my top 5 albums (in no particular
order) of 2014 so far!
1.Royal
Blood: Self Titled – I have to admit, I went into this album
with no expectations and was absolutely blown away. I still struggle coming to
terms with the fact that this band of only two men produces a sound that would
rival most five man rock bands. The album is chock full of rock anthems with so
much intensity, it's impossible to not get your groove on.

1. Train:
Bulletproof Picasso – Three-time Grammy winning San Francisco
band Train's upcoming new album, Bulletproof
Picasso was produced by previous Train collaborator Butch Walker, and
reflects frontman-singer/songwriter Pat Monahan's penchant for distinctive
musical stylings. “I've always wanted to emotionally connect with people
through the songs,” says Monahan. “But I also want to get into
people's lives with this album. We're very excited about Bulletproof Picasso
and we're looking forward to performing some of the new songs for all
our fans.”

1. Ryan
Adams: Self Titled – Ryan Adams' new album is a
self-titled affair and the first to be released on the combined Pax Am/Blue Note
imprint. Produced by Adams himself at his own Pax Am Studios in Los Angeles, the
new record is the NC-born singer/songwriter s first full length since
2011's acclaimed Ashes & Fire. The first single
‘Gimme Something Good’ has already elicited wide praise
with Stereogum exclaiming “he doesn't seem to have lost a songwriting
step!”

With Fathers day just around the corner we thought we'd let
you know our top 5 albums for Dad on his special day!
1. Shihad –
FVEY – For Dads that like to grumble about the
government and have a no nonsense attitude, this is the perfect album
to get him headbanging.
FVEY sounds unlike anything Shihad have
done before, which is not bad for a band who have been around for 25 years.
It's a beautifully raging and rumbling album but danceable and laced with
grooves, perfectly highlighted in the first single ‘Think you’re
so Free’.

America and the world.
4. IT
