Computer Chassis Showcase Part One: Mid Towers

By Andi

Whether you're looking for something with better cable management, more room to house additional drives, or simply want a great looking case to match your amazing tech specs, we've got some recommendations for you!

In this article we'll be looking purely at the most common computer case – the mid tower. There are more than a few out there to choose from, but these are our picks. We've gone for a diverse range, factoring in various buying reasons and their applications. So, without further ado, we give you our 5 picks for a mighty mid tower.

1) SilverStone RL01B Mid Tower

The great thing about Silverstone is that even their lowest priced chassis still looks fantastic. If you're building a rig on a budget, but still want a sleek form factor that boasts your ultimate gaming skill, this is what you want.

Simple in design, the RL01B sacrifices a side panel window to offer a more muted and streamlined look. Meanwhile, the front allows for maximum airflow to keep your case cool and visibility for any sweet lighting you want to throw in to zazz things up!

The bottom mounted power supply and backside cable routing allows for a tidier case and better airflow. Magnetic dust filters also make sure that you'll spend less time cleaning out your case and more time doing what you enjoy: gaming.

2) Raidmax Cobra Black Gaming Mid Tower

For those of you out there looking for a case that just looks mean, then what more can you ask for than a case called Cobra?

With more angles in its case design than a Lamborghini, this case is going to turn heads when you set it up at your next LAN. Cobra couldn't be more apt of a name if it tried, what with its green glow giving this case an overall venomous look.

Ready for anything you throw at it, the Cobra has water cooling support and cable management throughout. Not to mention the side panel window for you to show off your hardware for all those brave enough to get close to this monster.

3) Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 Mid Tower

There's cases built for their function and there's cases built to look great. It seems like the people at Cooler Master asked the question “why not both?”

Not only does this case look stunning, but it also offers a slew of functionality that, when you think about it, just make sense. This solid and sturdy case equipped with robust handles is perfect for transport. A sliding hatch even protects your front of case inputs (which includes 2× USB 3.0 ports)

Trying to install a beast of a graphics card, but you're running out of room? No worries, simply pop out that lower hard drive cage for all the room you need. Need to keep your case going overnight, but the light for your awesome case fans is overpowering? Switch the LEDs off with the flick of a switch.

4) NZXT H440 Silent Mid Tower

See, the problem we had here was picking which NZXT case to feature on this list – they're all just SO good. But at the end of the day, the H440 really stands out from the rest.

It's got an excellent finish to it, with brilliant accents of colour (red pictured) throughout the case. This isn't a cheap design to feature on the front of the case, but a realised vision from the ground up.

The tidy design applies to the case's interior as well, with brilliant cable management and even a cover for your power supply that doubles as an SSD mount.

Getting an NZXT case is just the beginning when it comes to customizing your PC. They also have an entire range of water cooling, fan controls, as well as component heat sinks designed to fit perfectly in your NZXT case.

5) Corsair Graphite 600T Silver Mid Tower

Last on this list, but certainly not least, is the Corsair Graphite 600T.

If your inclination isn't towards stunning light displays and avant garde case design, but you still want a quality case that looks great and packs all the cable management and storage space – this is for you.

With such a sophisticated look, this case looks great in the gaming cave or the office workspace. Now no one will know whether you're crunching spreadsheets or dominating a deathmatch (just try to keep the whooping to a minimum – it's a bit of a give away.)

So there you go. Some amazing mid towers for your various needs… unless you need an ugly one, in which case we can't help you.
