Since its beginning the International Conference on Applied Sciences and Advanced Technology (ICASAT) was planned as a multidisciplinary space and as a platform to explore the frontiers of knowledge in different areas such as Machine Vision, Biotechnology, Computer Sciences, Mechatronics and, Sustainability. Also, a multidisciplinary perspective is required in all aspects of science, engineering, and research, moving towards a more complete overview of recent advances. On its third edition, ICASAT received works focused on the Trends and Challenges for Global Sustainable Development.  This book is a collection of the works presented during ICASAT 2023.

Author Biography:

Angel Moisés Hernández Ponce Mechatronic engineer with a master's degree in advanced technology from the IPN-CICATA Querétaro of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. He is currently studying his PhD at the same school developing algorithms for the detection of defects in the peels of citrus fruits through image analysis and deep learning. His interests include studying artificial intelligence algorithms to apply them to precision agriculture; he also likes to study the application of video games to improve teaching processes in the classroom.  Khemisset Marcos Escobar Mechanical and electrical engineer from the Universidad Veracruzana. Master’s in advanced technology from the National Polytechnic Institute with national and international research stays. She has worked in the area of quality within the automotive industry, as well as being co-founder of an NGO dedicated to the dissemination of science in children of early school age. She is currently aPhD student at IPN-CICATA Querétaro where her line of research is focused on optomechatronics for food analysis.   Liline Daniel Canales Hernández Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Tecnológico Nacional de México, Pachuca Campus, Master of Science in Optical Computing from the Universidad Politécnica de Tulancingo with a research focus on optical metrology techniques and interferometry; and candidate for a PhD in Advanced Technology in the field of Image Analysis at IPN-CICATA Querétaro from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional.  Marivel Zea Ortiz She completed her studies in Computer Systems Engineering and subsequently pursued a mater’s degree in Advanced Technology at IPN-CICATA Querétaro of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. Currently studying for a PhD degree in the same field. Throughout her career, she has been involved in various projects focused on wastewater treatment, process automation, scientific outreach, and teaching. Her areas of interest primarily revolve around exploring the applications of remote sensing and artificial intelligence in projects with social impact. Roger E. Sánchez Alonso Industrial Engineer graduated with honors from the National University of Engineering in Nicaragua, where he is currently a Research Professor and Editor of Nexo Scientific Journal, the main science and technology journal in the country. He obtained Master's and Doctor's degrees from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico in the areas of Mechatronics and Robotics respectively. He has carried out research stays and academic exchanges at universities in Mexico and the United States. He is a specialist in Lean-Six Sigma for process improvement. He is a researcher, consultant, trainer, author of a variety of scientific articles published in indexed journals, patent holder, and peer reviewer for scientific journals. He has been awarded with the National Prize for Innovation and the Prize for Scientific Trajectory, both by CONICYT-Nicaragua.
