In 1943–1944 the air arm defended the Bulgarian territory against the Allied bomber raids and supported the Bulgarian land forces deployed in Greece and Yugoslavia. However, after 9 September 1944 the Bulgarian air arm was involved in the support of its former enemies, the Allies.
