Takom: 1/72 M60A1 w/ERA & M60A3 1+1 – Model Kit
This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The M60 was the main tank developed by the United States as the successor to the M46/M47/M48 to counter the Soviet T-54A.
The M60A1 was an improved version with a modified turret shape to counter the T-62, improved suspension, fire control and maneuvering systems, and a modified interior layout, and was mass-produced as the mainstay of the M60 series from 1962.
The M60A1 deployed in the U.S. Marine Corps was equipped with ERA (Explosive Reaction Armor) and was used in the Gulf War.
The M60A3 is a modernized version of the M60A1, which went into mass production in 1978. The main gun's accuracy was improved by replacing and strengthening the fire control system, and the coaxial machine gun was changed from the 7.62mm machine gun M73 or 7.62mm machine gun M60E2 to the 7.62mm machine gun M240C. By 1983, about 1,000 new machine guns had been added.
By 1983, approximately 1,700 new M60A3s were produced and 2,100 M60A1s were converted to A3 specifications.
