This thing has a strong chemical stink, a good wash under warm soapy water and a scrub didn't get rid of it entirely, but it's tolerable. It provides more friction than just the desk, and much more than a traditional mouse pad, but it is smooth. Other than that, it looks really good.
This thing smells like unregulated chemicals out the box. I've let it off gas somewhere away from my desk, forgot about it for 6 months, came back to it today, washed it under warm soapy water with a scrub. It still smells. Do not buy if you're sensible to these things. It is also not great gliding the mouse, it provides moving resistance with a Mx Master 3s. Other than that, it looks really good.
