Description

This text places emphasis on solving differential equations using the finite difference approach. Among the other features are problem-solving methods, clear identification of the pitfalls of using selected algorithms, and more on practical solutions than theoretical abstraction. There are chapters on elliptic, parabolic, and hyperbolic partial differential equations and also consideration of the finite element method for solving differential equations. FORTRAN programs for implementing algorithms are included in each chapter with subroutines written in pseudocode which is adaptable to other programming languages.
