"New Zealand: Land of Birds" captures the grandeur and variety of many of New Zealand's birds and the wide diversity of environments in which they live, feed and breed. An informative introduction deals with the evolution of many of the species, followed by the impact to them caused through the arrival of the Maori and then the European settlers and their subsequent clearance of the land. Eight chapters comprising over 150 colour photographs and informative text, range over the various landscapes in which many birds may be found, including the coast and selected offshore islands; tidal estuaries, mangroves and lagoons; migrant wading-bird habits; wetlands (lake, swamps and rivers); rural landscapes; forests; high country; and urban landscapes.

Author Biography

Geoff Moon O.B.E., Honourary Fellow of the Photographic Society of New Zealand and Associate of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, has written and illustrated some 20 books, including several major works on birds. His contribution to the research and documentation of New Zealand's bird life is widely acknowledged.
