Author Biography:

Growing up through the 1980s James was surrounded by the Pop hits of the day and soon became fascinated with the Pop stars and Musicians that played through the TV and Radio. Here he started searching for something more satisfying and moved through to soul music, jazz, and rhythm and blues. It was Funk however that really got James's attention and from here he never looked back.James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament and Prince all captured this perfectly. James loved the way that these groups and individuals brought together a strong melody, chord progressions, rhythmic groove of a bass line and drums. All these factors were then for the first time brought to the foreground. Funk was found and once discovered, James was hooked. James started writing extensively on Prince through various platforms and it wasn't long before he had amassed a significant stockpile of material worthy of a Biography. Over the years James has collected an enviable catalogue of Prince Vinyl Records, CDs, Tapes, Cassette, DVDs and Memorabilia. The Biography was finally completed in 2018, and has been nominated for the 2019 Association for Recorded Sound Collections Awards for Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research. James is delighted to have joined New Haven Publishing and has added to his music icon series, aptly titled The Life The Genius The Legend, with Lenny Kravitz (releases April 29 2019) and Madonna (releases August 30th 2019)
