"This book is a joy to flick through, a pleasure to read."

Purchased on Mighty Ape

I have just bought a very young thoroughbred, and am out of practice myself. I needed a book to remind me of basics and show me how to deal with her baby ways :)

The horses used here not young, they are 12 and 13..but the tips and handling skills are fab..

I flicked though as soon as I opened the parcel and discovered how to get a horse to stand next to the mounting block.. YAH! No more hopping like a loon..

How to use body language with a nervy horse on a lead rope..and what they look like when they're asking you for reassurance (they aren't really trying to eat you).

After intially thinking this book wouldn't do – because his subjects weren't four year old mares fresh off the track – I can see I will be referrring to this heaps.

It has great photos, and the writing is easy to absorb. Many pages have a box with tips, or checklists to give you a boost.

For me returning to riding, its a guide and very reassuring. Lots here for more experienced riders too. Can't wait to get out to the paddock and try some of this!
