Description

Heavy/Light is the first manual to create a full-season block periodization approach for athletes competing in the Scottish Highland Games. The goal of this manual is to create an easy-to-follow foundation for what do to on the practice field, and how to make the best of your time practicing the throws. This is built as a companion piece to Matt Vincent's Strength Lab, but it can be paired with any strength and conditioning program if you are a Highland Games athlete. Any sport played at a higher level involves deconstructing the way it's played into drills, variations, and then approaching game speed. The Highland Games should be treated no differently.

Author Biography:

Mike was a Baseball player through high school, and became a fencer in college. There, he won a Conference Championship and stuck around after graduation as a strength and conditioning coach. Mike chased the Olympic dream for 10 years or so, got too old and started trying new things. For several years, he dabbled in Powerlifting and Strongman, then tried his first Highland Games in 2011. In 2013 Mike competed at the North American Amateur Championships, and in 2016 Mike won the US National Championship in Lightweight Highland Games. Mike is also a CrossFit Level 1 Certified Coach, creates and coaches dedicated strength and throws programming for athletes, and trains youth athletes in baseball and track & field. Mike resides in Round Rock, TX with his wife Ashley and their three children.
