Description

Dr. John has long been considered the physical embodiment of the vibrant culture of New Orleans. Throughout his illustrious musical career from the 1950’s forging his definitive voodoo inflected rhythm and blues psychedelia throughout the 60s and 70s, to his tireless efforts recording, performing and being a spokesman for the city today. His colourful persona and talents transcend musical genres and art forms garnering respect from his fans, cultural peers, civil leaders and beyond. Dr John has been honoured with a Grammy in both the jazz and blues fields.

Iconic American musician and unofficial ambassador to New Orleans, the legendary Dr. John has recorded his definitive musical response to the devastation brought by Hurricane Katrina on his beloved crescent city. Titled ‘City That Care Forgot’, this all-new record finds Dr. John at the very top of his game, as he seeks to express the anger, paranoia and despair still among New Orleans' scattered former inhabitants.
