"Self destruct -A career thing-"
3 stars"

I remember when Fitty made it in New York City with Aftermath and his troop of Eminem, Obie Trice, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks… All the other guys but then as time went on there were cracks then rifts. Lloyd either was already on the west coast and didn't like Curtis or he had moved there from New York City to carry on his music but still didn't like Fitty.

This is the first Fitty album I have listened to and to be honest he isn't my preferred homey G but neither is Eminem or any of the G-Unit. I am more of a old schooler like Cypress Hill and Wu-Tang Clan but what ever floats your boat. Today the scene isn't about gangster anymore it is different and now the club or techno music is infiltrating the hip hop or rap charts.

Fitty reps New York City and if you rep that city for starters you should be ashamed of yourself, I am not the empire state.

The title has meaning as Curtis does sound as if he is coming across distressed and about to self destruct through his lyrical rhythym. He tells a story of cooking meth, trouble with police, family, diss tracks such as calling a weak man a “faggot” and at one time, impersonating an Italian-American or probably mafia don and being very crude about the affair. He disses Lloyd Banks, he kind of disses the Ying Yang Twins and the album although a neat and tidy composition, is just something to play in the car with your crew or while resting on a bed with the CD player next to you or something.

But the thing is I wouldn't listen to 50 Cent because I don't rep New York City. What is up with the name 50 Cent anyway, why have merketers named him that- I saw a movie of some Chicago gang stealing his chain and they spun it then while it spun it created the formation image of a Nazi swastika. This is supposed to be from a guy who has the Street Kings organisation in New York City to keep children out of crime for instance, just unbelievable.

A good album some good beats but not to be taken seriously. Rap “artists” such as 50 Cent became famous and especially in his case, through a tough guy image reputation. This man was supposedly shot nine times and lived to tell about it. This man does not represent me, he shouldn't be representing New York City and he should quite frankly just stop recording he has had his run its time for the new 50 Cent and time for the new G-Unit.

Description

For the explosive Before I Self Destruct album, 50 Cent returned to working closely with Dr. Dre and Eminem as he did on Get Rich Or Die Tryin', his first official album. With Dr. Dre and Eminem producing and guesting, Before I Self Destruct is darker and harder than 2007's Curtis, as shown by the grimy single and video to “OK, You're Right” (produced by Dr. Dre), which was released earlier this year.
