In the hope of being named the world’s best, three international dance crews battle each other and their own pasts as they bring a new fusion/explosion of dance styles to the stage.
Filled with heart-pumping dance moves and a sexy hip hop soundtrack, the film focuses on three crews from around the world as they prepare to do battle at the international Beat The World competition held in Detroit.
Fusion is a crew that comes from the streets of Windsor, a city that sits across the bridge from Detroit. With the competition being held so close to Fusion’s backyard, Yuson (Tyrone Brown), the crew’s leader, is determined to win. He invents a fresh dance style that is a mix of hip hop and parkour. Yuson’s longtime girlfriend Maya (Mishael Morgan) is tired of being second in his life, and decides to move on and pursue her own dreams.
Not only does Yuson have to excel for his crew, he needs to win the contest to prove his worth to himself, and to his girl. Yuson’s main competition comes from last year’s champions, Germany’s Flying Steps, which is lead by Eric (Christian Loclair), a cocky self-assured dancer. Eric makes it personal when he knowingly hits on Yuson’s girlfriend at a pre-celebration party held for all of the crews at a popular Detroit club.
Meanwhile, Olivia (Kristy Flores), a member of Revolution, the hottest dance crew in Brazil, hopes to escape the difficult life she leads in Rio by winning the World competition. But when Carlos (Shane Pollard), the head of the crew, loses the cash for their plane tickets, he foolishly borrows money from a shady loan shark. The only hope he has of paying the money back is to win the competition. In a final showdown to become World champions (and win $100,000 in prize money!), the three crews take on the world’s best. When they finally face off against one another, lifelong hopes, dreams, and even lives, are at stake
