Description

This funny and charming book opens the door to many possibilities of the garden shed - just about the last male bastion left in the modern household. It is packed with 101 tasks, tools, simple projects and ideas of all sorts for having hours of uninterrupted fun. Whether you want to rediscover the lost art of 'make do and mend', create some useful knick-knacks, explore model-making opportunities from little yachts made from matchsticks, wooden toy tractors or exquisite toothbrush stands, dabble with some simple experiments with optical illusions, static electricity, vibrating glasses or just enjoy a spot of peace and quiet with the radio and a glass of beer, this book is a treasure trove of great ideas. Beautifully illustrated with good old fashioned line drawings and brimming with bright ideas to keep men entertained for hours, it is set to become a cult classic. Welcome to the sanctuary of the shed!

Author Biography:

Rob Beattie remembers only too well his dad's shed (actually it was a garage, but it was a shed in spirit) and the many wonders that came out of it. From a fishing rod made of bamboo to a curious shoulder-high partition-cum-knick-knack holder, he learnt all the crafts that are essential for making the most of your shed. He is a journalist who writes about technology and music and has written for The Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday, Observer and Easy PC. He lives in Brighton with a great shed at the bottom of the garden.
