UPDATE: The winner is Tristan Davies from Palmerston North.

Fast & Furious 5 is coming to DVD and Blu-ray this Thursday, September 1st. We've secured a very cool prize to give away to one monkey who pre-orders the movie – a Scalextric Drift Kings slot racing set!

The Scalextric Drift Kings set offers two, Nissan GT-R cars. The cars are fitted with unique guide blade systems that allow 360 degree movement. The challenge is to fishtail the car around the perfectly shaped figure-of-eight circuit and send tyre walls flying! It's great fun and, remember, points will be awarded for style.

Pre-order Fast & Furious 5 and go into the draw to win a Scalextric Drift Kings slot racing set.

Last week while doing some work in the Mighty Ape warehouse I was rifling through the new DVDs and I saw that the documentary Teenage Paparazzo had recently arrived. Teenage Paparazzo discusses the relationship between celebrities and the paparazzi and societies obsession with celebrities. The doco is directed by Adrian Grenier who is an actor and is probably most well known for his lead role as Vinny Chase in the television show Entourage. Entourage also happens to be one of my favourite television shows.

Now I see loads of exciting new products arrive each day but this one was particularly significant because, believe it or not, myself and two friends were filmed and interviewed to appear in this movie.

I was in New York City in October 2009 with my friends David and Jordan. We were there to perform at this music festival, CMJ Music Marathon. David is a rapper and we were there chasing the American dream.

We were walking back to our apartment at 4am after a night out and I saw a familiar person leaving a bar around the corner from our place. It was Adrian Grenier. I introduced myself and my friends and told him how we were big fans of Entourage. We ended up hanging out and having a chat with him and his two friends on the street for about 10 or 15 minutes.

Che's Japanese adventure

I had the good fortune of spending last week in the land of the rising sun, Japan. While my fellow monkeys were layering up and toiling away at Mighty Ape HQ's warehouse and office I was catching the warm rays of summer in Japan :P And warm it was, it averaged over 30 degrees during the day and in the late 20s at night, mmmm. (By the way, I'm Che, just in case you haven't figured that out already :P)

I've always had a fascination with Japan and Japanese culture since I was young. I distinctly remember a parent coming to class when I was five years old to talk about her recent visit to Japan. She taught us some origami and had photos of Mount Fuji, Sumo wrestlers, bullet trains, and Japanese style toilets; all really fascinating stuff to me as a child. I ended up studying Japanese at high school and managed to go on a class trip for to Japan when I was 15. It was my first big overseas trip, I hadn't seen much of the world at that stage, suffice to say it was mind-blowing. I've been itching to get back there for a few years and when some cheap flights came up recently I jumped at the chance.
