About Gumball Poodle

The original statement socks, Gumball Poodle can be found in Los Angeles, California. They like to say that they make quality socks for colorful people (or was it colorful socks for quality people?), and that certainly rings true when you take a glance at their range!

Erica Easley launched this fun and funky company without ever intending to. Fruitless in her attempts to find Obama socks during the 2008 presidential campaign, she decided to make her own. The socks were a smash hit, featuring in Marie Claire, LA Weekly, and many other publications around the US. And so Gumball Poodle was created.

After hitting the ground running, Gumball Poodle can now bee seen all over the net and on some celebrities… Most famously on R&B royalty, Beyoncé in her music video ‘Pretty Hurts’.

Beyoncé in Gangsta Crew Socks

Queen Bey made music history late in 2013 by dropping an unannounced ‘visual album’. Her long anticipated fifth solo album BEYONCÉ contained 14 songs with 17 videos already produced and was released on the internet with no promotional fanfare. Understandably, the internet went crazy over the new album and ‘Pretty Hurts’ has been just one of many very successful singles for the muli-talented Knowles. ‘Pretty Hurts’ received acclaim for its positive body image message – the lyrics describing the pressures women face to conform to a certain standard of beauty and the damage it can cause.

The gorgeous singer sports our very own Gangsta Crew Socks in the music video, alongside a mock crown and Pageant sash for 3rd place. The socks add that Beyoncé attitude to the chic but sexy lingerie and the scenes that feature them are certainly some of my faves from the video!

CeeLo Green in Gangsta Crew Socks

Following in Beyoncés footsteps is the singer, songwriter, record producer, judge and businessman Thomas DeCarlo Callaway. Better known by his stage name CeeLo Green or as one half of the Gnarls Barkley duo, he was spotted out and about in December 2013 wearing a sandals and socks combo – featuring our very favourite Gangsta Crew Socks!

Recently reuniting with his southern hip hop group Goodie Mob, CeeLo Green has also judged on America's The Voice for four seasons. That coupled with Beyoncé's 45 mi­llion views on Youtube means that these Gangsta Crew socks have certainly been seen by the world.

Tyra Banks in Bacon Knee High Socks

Tyra Banks rose to fame through modelling, featuring in two Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue's and as an angel for Victoria's Se­cret. She is more widely known these days as creator and host of America's Next Top Model and the host of her own talk show The Tyra Banks Show. Banks has been mentioned several times as one of the world's most influential people by Time magazine, and with her outgoing personality, strong views against abusive relationships and savvy business knowledge it's hard not to see why!

She tweeted this picture featuring the Bacon Knee High Socks in May 2014 “Fatty Feet. Yum…” and we have to agree! These socks are perfect for any bacon lover. Now you can make like Tyra and let your legs do the talking!

So now you know that we have awesome taste here at Mighty Ape – we have all these big stars to back up our choices! Gumball Poodle has been a favourite of quite a few of our staff members for years now and we love being able to bring the quirky range down under.
