Thrilling an intelligent read with seemingly real espionage detail.
The first novel in the millennium trilogy has all the elements of a great crime novel, as a reader you are immediately submerged.
You won't want to put this book down, Larsson masterfully takes the reader through the up and downs of the protagonist and the reader in a sense begins to work through the mystery, picking apart certain things, you begin to formulate your own conclusions.
I think thats why this book is so ingenious that you think more of it, you want to find out what happens.
This is a must have for any reader!
It was a little slow at first – but as I soon as I got into it I couldn't put it down. The story and the characters were gripping making you question what you think you know
It starts slow but turns out to be a really good read. So good I just ordered the next one in the series.
This book takes a bit to get into..probably because it is a translation and normally if it doesn't grab me right away then that is it but i pushed on and then it was all day and all night stuff and start on to the next one!
Was a great read at a great price
It was quite hard to get into at the start, the writer has to set the seen and build a background to weave the story. However the plot is complex and you are compelled to read on. The characters are well described, you feel you know them, it is overall a very good read
Larsson reveals the resilience and determination of Lisbeth, caught up as she is in the astonishing world of corruption and the abuse of power, especially in the social and medical services in whose hands we place so much trust. This was a page-turner for me, filled with horror at the atrocities meted out to a child so young and perpetuated against another human being. Extremely well-written.
Larsson is a talented writer. His attnetion to detail is incredible. I like the depth he goes to in every aspect of the book – building the characters slowly so you get to know them well, the intense feelings expressed, not to mention the knowledge gained with the factual parts of the book. It's gripping, exciting and full of emotion. Loved it.
A thriller with a different twist. This book takes you on a journey into a very dark place. If it's action and a very interesting and unique heroine called Salander that you want to find out about then this is the book for you!
I found it a refreshing change from the everyday British/American crime stories. A nice look into the Scandinavian environment from a visitors perspective, and a wholey eye opening experience into the deviates of this world.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
This book was a great read. Highly recommended. It took a little to get into, which I attributed to getting used to the author's writing style. Once I was through the first third I couldn't put it down. I then finished the other two volumes in the trilogy straight away
