I picked this up because the price was good and I'd considered the previous Tenchu games to be excellent. The reviews I'd checked beforehand warned about the motion-controls, but I thought surely it's not unplayable, right? From Software usually know their stuff.
It's very nearly unplayable. While there are some great innovations to the series, like the stylized use of shadows and extinguishing lamps to move unseen, you'll spend more time wrestling with the controls than enjoying the game. Even if you manage to play through the level, having the success of a stealth kill being dependent on how manically you can flail your arms about isn't fun at all.
There are plenty of examples of elegant use of the Wiis motion-controls in mainstream action games – but sadly, this isn't one of them.
Not as bad as I had feared – but could have used some slight tweaking in the gameplay. Graphically satisfying…
I feel sorry for the kids who now get snuck up on as I steathly sneak around the house… I just need more time and less sleep now…
tenchu just keeps getting better more moves, more to use for you an in the enviroment around you. Much more real than older games, graphics still could use sum work
Good game that enables you to utilize the uniqueness of the wii while using strategy and skill to complete a variety of missions.
