Razer Blackwidow Chroma Mechanical Gaming Keyboard reviews

So I've wanted a back-lit keyboard for a while, also wanted clicky keys, this came out just before my birthday so I treated myself and got one. Gotta say… its too cool. Customizable colour profiles to match anything you want (spent an hour playing with colours so far, maybe ill get round to gaming soon…) on the fly macro recording, gaming buttons, quick keys and Razer Synapse to sync all of your settings to the cloud so you never have to worry about losing your configs. The clicky keys are awesome, I'm sure a stealth version will pop up soon for those who want a quieter click but I'm fairly fond of the solid satisfying click sound this makes. Its pretty much everything you would expect from Razer, and with fully programmable back-lights its probably one of the coolest gaming weapons I've ever owned!

I have now owned a Razer black widow chroma for two months and its is very good for gaming, typing and everything else you could think of that requires a keyboard. The key switches feel very nice although the keyboard is plastic it doesn't feel as if it's going to give up on me anytime soon. The colors light up my whole room at night and no LED's have blown, no colors dimmer than the rest and with the newest version of Razer synapse 2.0 the lighting options are literally endless! I really believe Razer has put a lot of time and effort into this keyboard and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is reading this right now.

I've had this keyboard for only 2 days and I'm hooked. I absolutely love it. As soon as I got the keyboard out of the box I was just playing on it and clicking the keys for about 10 minutes in amazement at it. They pretty much fit me perfectly and the ability to just press a key extremely softly helps me a lot especially when typing. Finally I have found a keyboard that doesn't actually move around on my desk by my moving my hand a little bit! The weight is so much better than any other keyboard I have ever owned. The lights are just really frickin cool though. Your keyboard lighting up your room in the dark just gives me away the best feeling. Thank you Razer for this amazing keyboard. Keep up the good work.

Very good keyboard, the mechanical feel is set exactly right for the gamer, and those that enjoy a satisfying sound when we hit the keys will love this keyboard. The back lit nature of the keyboard is excellent and the changing colour option is, while gimmicky, a very nice feature.

I have had this keyboard for about 2 months now and it feels and looks awesome i must have spent 3 hours playing with the different colours and effects this keyboard has and countless hours using this and its well worth the money if you use a keyboard day in day out so stoked with it thanks mighty ape and thank you razor outstanding job

This keyboard is just a dream underneath your fingers. I wont be going back to a normal keyboard ever! My favourite thing about this keyboard is the fact that it has headphone and a USB port on the side of it making cable management for my wired headset so much easier!

Although I didn't purchase this keyboard from MightyApe I will still give this review to warn people not to waste your money on this keyboard. Within a month all of the keys on this keyboard make a terrible metally sound and its very unpleasant. Very dissapointing quality for the price you pay.

M8 I r8 this keyboard a solid 8/8, been playing cs:go on it for about a month it feels amazing! Is smash/rage proof too lol.

Despite the five star rating this keyboard has, the Blackwidow Chroma is anything but a good keyboard. You're paying for the brand, not a quality product. This board has terrible build quality, no plug and play, low quality Chinese clone switches which are very susceptible to key chatter, and terrible keycaps, which are incredibly annoying to replace because of the non-standard bottom row. This keyboard is not worth your money at all, and for $298, this is daylight robbery. If you want RGB, get a Ducky Shine instead. The Shine has excellent build quality, genuine cherry switches and a standard layout for a great price. Otherwise, there are Ducky's other boards, and Coolermaster makes some great boards, such as the Masterkeys Pro line and the Quickfire Rapid or TK.

With the new update on Jan 6 from Razer it has everything any other rgb keyboard has aesthetically. I can't fault this keyboard yet, keys are a bit louder than my old Blackwidow stealth (obviously) but i like it.

This is a great keyboard. The standard colouring it first gives you are amazing and having the back light glow is the most amazing thing it looks so much better than just the keys. It a smooth keyboard but does have quite a bit of weight to it. Its a shame it requires software installation and a razer account to operate in full though.

Awesome gift Unamagineable ability to configure colouration Wow

You have to sign-up to Razer's ‘cloud service’ to make use of any of the features such as RGB lighting or macros. Also, the keyboard is made out of a plastic that stains from the oil on your figers. Other than that, it's an adequate keyboard.

Although pricey, if you can afford it and like mechanical keyboards, this is a great keyboard. It feels absolutely wonderful to type on, with each keypress being distinct and clear. The noise is one of the best things about it, with my Razer Kraken Chroma headset, the sound is somewhat muffled and provides a subtle staccato soundtrack to my typing, gaming, etc.

The LED lighting is probably the biggest feature. You can have it as gaudy or subtle as you like. From having a a rapidly moving spectrum going across the keyboard with ripples of the LEDs turning off emanating from each keypress, to a simplistic rendition of the american flag, to each key that you hit lighting up in the classic razer green for a short period, to having a color-coded setup with the colors matching the game's theme, (Movement one color, abilities another, etc), or even the insane level of depth that overwatch provides where it changes color depending on ultimate charge, ability cooldown, what the key does for that exact character, etc. Someone even made it possible to play snake on this keyboard!

The final piece of praise I have for this keyboard is the complete rebindability of the keys. For any of the profiles you create, you can have a key do pretty much anything. Want to have up&down arrow change the sensitivity of (unfortunately has to be a Razer) mouse, and left&right arrows change your mic volume on your FPS profile- You can do that! Want to have the 5 extra keys on the side to be used to give you hotkey access to a further 5 profiles (fn key+number (1–0) is already used to change between profiles) meaning you can have 15 separate lighting/keybind profiles at you fingertips- Sure!

TL;DR: A great keyboard with many features that looks, sounds, and feels awesome.

Great keyboard, worth the money

Best keyboard anyone could buy with a good amount of cash lying around. If you love gaming in general and want an advanced keyboard, this will do the job! I love the style of it and how smooth it is so I would definitely recommend this to the PC gamers or anyone who wants something to stand out while using their setup!

Good Grip, so many colours that can be used and if there may be an unusual problem with the lighting or staring effect it can always be fixed by changing how its be displayed through the Razer Synapse Programme. This keyboard was fantastic when playing StarCraft 2 and of course CSGO.

Had put off buying this keyboard for awhile as I was quite nervous about spending such an amount on a keyboard. Now that I have it I wish I had done it months ago. I love this thing so much. The lighting effects are just nice and the keyboard has great action and feels alot ‘nicer’ to type on. No issues with it at all.

Look, the synapse software ain't great, but it does the job and you can download some pretty damn awesome lighting effects from the Razer website which is handy. The feel and sound of this keyboard however is beyond awesome and a whole new experience. Now I'm sure there are probably better mechanical keyboards out there other than Razer, but being my first, I love this one, for now :)

Feels amazing with the anti ghosting and looks even better. Nice weight to it to so it double fly all around the place and nice length on cords. Awesome keyboard well worth a buy!

I played Counterstrike for 2 years using a Logitech K120, a keyboard I bought for $15. I purchased this, purely because of the fancy lights… And I am absolutely in love with the Razer Synapse Software, this keyboard is amazingly easy to configure. It is ultra responsive and gives a very satisfying clicking noise when typing. I have become a lot better (which I thought was impossible) at Counterstrike, and it's very fair to say I won't be going back to the Logitech K120 any time soon.

Good keyboard

For a long time I have wanted to buy the Razer Blackwidow Chroma because I feel in love with the RGB backlit keys and the sound of the Razer mechanical switches. Recently I thought it was about time to get one and it is PERFECT. The software is super easy to use and friendly. With the keyboard itself is great but one thing I would change would be to have LEDs at the front of the frontmost keys and around the spacebar because it looks darker at the very front than the rest of the keyboard, the razer logo DOES also have a brightness gradient but it looks nice in my opinion. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone, given that its great to type on and good for gaming too! 10/10 Just do it

This keyboard is absolutely astounding, the backlights are beautiful, the tactical feel, new mechanical switches, and last of all, the nice clicky sound. The backlights can change into 16.8 Million colours. The macros help me A LOT in my games, I mostly use it for difficult controls. This keyboard Ladies and Gentlemen has improved my gaming, and what you call a Gaming Beast. I highly recommend this keyboard

The RGB lighting is as cool as you'd expect. The software makes it easy to set it up however you want it, for both macros, and visuals. Razer's keyswitches are a pleasure to type on, consistent across the entire unit and miles better than the mushy membrane keyboard I was using before. If I were to ask for any improvements they would be 1. a light under the function key, so that it can be replaced with a function key that does have transparency and 2. brighter caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock lights.

The keyboard is alright. It's very loud and I often get complaints from people I am in voice chat with. It gets very dirty and collects dirt and hair under the keys very easily. The keys do come off but its not easy to clean. The keyboard works find. Feels nice to use. RGB is nice and can be set up with diffrent functions in Razer Synapse. The macro keys are useful although sometimes I have hit them trying to push control or another key. I had this keyboard for 3 years and finally I spilt a drink on it. Most of it going on the desk but a small amount went on the keyboard. Even though I quickly clean it up, pulling the keys off and wiping it up. It still stopped working. Space stopped and then it would push the N key nonstop. It's in the hot water cupboard now, but I don't think it's gonna live.

This keyboard not only looks fantastic but always very durable. I have owned this for a couple or few years now and not that I am rough with my gear I have used it alot and under extreme amount of button mashing in some games with some being competitive and it still stands strong along with all the lights and everything working and looking good as day one when i first got it. At first i liked the clicky sound of the keyboard but now days i do feel as that novelty wore off and would like it a bit quieter, other than that it is an amazing keyboard and was worth every cent, even when i did think it was nuts for that price for a keyboard at first but no.. you get what you pay for, hands down quality all round.

Got the CoD Black Ops III edition half price, amazing buy! The Synapse program is easy to use, and I can program and animate the keyboard and individual LEDS. It really spices up my build. The switches feel really nice to press. Would highly recommend.

After using for a few days an update was required then after updating all I get after 30 mins or so was a BSOD can't reboot so unplug connect old key board everything ok tried 3 times and finally given up.

If you have the money this keyboard is well worth the price.

Absolutely fantastic gaming keyboard

It is a good product but I would rather lower the price of the product Razer makes high product products but for the price tag I feel the construction should be more premium. Otherwise amazing product.
