Author Biography:

Dennis Hargis is an educator and psychologist with more than 40 years of professional experience working with children, adolescents and youth. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, a Master's Degree in School Psychology, and a Certification in Educational Administration. While serving at Osawatomie State Hospital as acting principal for the school located on campus, psychologist and behavior intervention specialist, he provided direct services in educational programming, anger management, individual counseling, and crisis intervention. He also assisted with group therapy and biofeedback groups. As a staff member at the hospital, he participated in numerous, accredited training sessions with special emphasis ranging from psychiatric disorders to focusing on disturbed adolescents. He has also conducted more than fifty workshops, seminars, and presentations to share his program of successful methods in teaching anger management and problem-solving skills to adolescents Additionally, Hargis has 17 years of working as a building administrator, both at a special purpose school and as an elementary principal in public education. In addition to his administrative duties while at LaCygne Elementary in Kansas, he served as the District Coordinator for the English as a Second Language curriculum, established the school's Foster Grandparent Program, and was chairperson of the school's multi-tiered support system and the student assistance team. As the creator of a unique and successful program, using identification of feelings and visualization to teach anger management and problem-solving skills to adolescents, Hargis uses his vast and varied knowledge to help young people be happy being themselves. Hargis was raised in a loving home with a devoted love of God and the need to provide a lifetime of service to others. He now practices the Baha'i faith, which is a recent Global religion and was founded by Baha'u'llah. This religion is second only to Christianity in the number of geographical locations in the world.
