A good read well researched. This book is a sample platter of the troubling undercurrents of New Zealand society. I suspect that a lot of the anonymous one star ratings without comment came from there. At times I felt that I was reading a name and shame hit list and although necessary, I was left wishing for a deeper dive. Some of the chapters are worthy of books in themselves and would love to see them expanded upon in the future. Overall a worthwhile read on a subject that needs to be illuminated, lest it continue to grow in the shadows.

As a reader who mostly reads trash to relax and avoids non-fiction like the plague – I found this book very easy to read. Informative, compelling and timely. I would highly recommend this book

Byron Clark's book Fear hits that sweet spot of being easy to read, engaging, yet packed full of well-researched information and insight into the far right landscape in Aotearoa New Zealand.
