"An awesome game reboot"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

An awesome reboot game of a great series. Personally I was a bit apprehensive at first being a fan of the original series from the ps2 but I was won over by the reinterpretation of the game and its main character, Dante.

DmC's gameplay stays true to the original titles, while bringing a cinematic story on the level to be expected by Ninja Theory. Previous Ninja Theory games seem to have made an impact on Capcom's decisions with the combat system.

DmC plays like just about any Devil May Cry game, with about as many different weapons and combos with familiar weapons and a couple of new ones.

DmC's story sometimes leaves a little to be desired, but the overall cinematic quality makes the cutscenes enjoyable, and thankfully most of them are quite short so as not to interrupt gameplay too much.

While Dante's new design and personality has been debated, he still keeps a good amount of classic Dante's attitude and you can see that this Dante is well on the road to becoming the Dante everybody knows and loves.

DmC plays quite nicely and the combat system is intuitive for the most part, I've had times where I've tried to double-jump while using an angel weapon and ended up gliding around instead and I've often mixed up the two grapple-hooks, but these are minor issues for an overall decent combat system. It's easy to pull off more complicated combos thanks to cues placed in mid-combo. This helps you pull off the right combo at the right time and helps avoid a messy mistake or two.

Overall, DmC is a pretty decent game and well worth playing. With the new cinematic quality and enough collectibles to make a hoarder look normal, you'll be playing this one for a while.

"Awesome Reboot to an already great series"
5 stars"

Like most i was worried about a reboot of Devil may Cry, but after seeing the opening videos and a minute into finally controlling Dante i knew this was going to be a awesome game. Great game mechanics, breath taking level design on the strange and wicked side. With plenty of secrets to unlock and find, i've found myself playing through this game several times already. A definite addition to new DMC players and Old dmc veterans alike.

"Stop your whining and PLAY THIS GAME!"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Now, first things first, this is the very first Devil May Cry game that I've played. I don't know how “awesome” the previous Dante was, and I, quite frankly, don't care. If you're so stuck up on how this “new” Dante looks and acts, then skip this game and quit whining!

But, do so at your loss! And, why is it your loss- Because this game is one of the BEST hack-n-slashers I've ever played!

I simply LOVE the gameplay! I'm not the best gamer, but even I am able to pull off some stylish combos, and it's awesome at how easy it is to switch between weapons. The platforming is a lot of fun too. Swinging from one platform to another, and even pulling a platform towards you is not only fun to do, but fun to watch as well.

And, to match the great gameplay, Ninja Theory has made this game look BEAUTIFUL! It's one of the best looking games I've seen, and the stage design is both pretty and unique.

As for the story, while many find it weak, I actually quite like it! It kept me interested and made me want to see it out to the end. It's not an amazing story by any means, but it does the job, and the story scenes are done well.

The boss battles, however, are probably the weakest part of the game. Besides one that is pretty cool, they're pretty standard and don't require more than slashing the boss, pulling at their exposed weak point, and then repeat until they're dead.

Overall, DmC is a great game! I wasn't even considering it until I downloaded and played the demo, and boy am I glad I played the demo! I honestly can't recommend this game enough, and you, the reader, NEED to buy DmC: Devil May Cry.

"DMC is back"
3 stars"

If you've played the other Devil May Crys its time to pick up the sword again and fight as a the younger Dante… or so says the reviews LOL.. I honestly prefer the white hair, kick arse, take no s**t, shoot first ask questions later Dante of the first games. But having played this its pretty damn good!!! take it for a spin with the demo if your not to keen and i bet you'll be smiling thinking of all the carnage you can do :) Also at 3:30 on the vid above is that Trivium singing that song in the background---- anyone know– sounds like “In Waves” but different.. In any case if you like Devil May Cry check this out and keep in mind its not the Dante we know.. its a younger Dante according to the game…So sit back and have some fun.

A birthday present that was met with an unexpected twist. Because NZ got it before the U.S the downloadable content wasnt available until a day after pre-ordering it delivered it. How ever I know that they are still playing this game and are enjoying it thoroughly!

"An awesome game,surprisingly."

As a diehard fan of the original Dante, I was reluctant to even give this reboot a chance. After finally giving it a try, my only regret is not playing it sooner. Featuring a deep yet rewarding combat system, a great storyline that actually outshines the original, and heaps of hidden secrets to uncover. Give it a go, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

"A must for old and new fans alike"

Thoroughly enjoyed DmC, a reboot that was clearly made by fans of the originals. It feels like a Devil May Cry game, it plays like one, the humor is right on pitch and the gore typically appropriate. It felt like a game that lovingly paid homage to the original games while undoubtedly putting a new spin on it, distinct from the originals without feeling like it didn't belong as an addition to the series. 100% recommendation to old fans of Dante, and anyone who has always wanted to play DmC.

Initially I was put off by the ‘new’ Dante, as I played through the first 3 on PS2 some years ago and the whole ‘angst ridden emo kid and dubstep bandwagon soundtrack’ was a step in the wrong direction.

However, not only do I prefer the new Dante, but the soundtrack kicks serious demon butt. Hell, I actually bought the soundtrack, which is produced by Noisia.

The gameplay is amazing, fast, frantic, quick swapping through weapons is simple, you can use every weapon in your arsenal against a single enemy without ever pausing or menu hopping.

Admittedly I did lose interest in some of the later levels as they got a bit abstract (the night club was fairly awful) but as a whole the representation of Limbo is amazing and beautifully integrated into real world type environments.

Tonnes of replay value, secret missions, and downloadable (some free, and 1 pack cost me just $3.50 for a new infinite type combat mode – there is another story mode available too for around $15nzd but heard it's short and rated poorly)

Anyways, love it. 5/5
