I'm a huge fan of this series.
Divergent is one of those reads that had me all night and I was done in under 24 hours. It's addictive.
Fans of the Hunger Games will surely enjoy this as it a similar concept of futuristic division in society. However there is a clear division in the two series and this one is a must read!
It's hard to write this review since I want to go ahead and jump into all the details, but I think they are better left unsaid and for the reader to find them out themselves.
However I will say that it is set in a post-apocalyptic time where their world is split up into five factions, each dedicated to a different virtue; the honest, the selfless, the brave, the peaceful, and the intelligent. When you turn 16, there is one day a year in which you are able to choose to either stay in the faction you were born into, or choose another faction in which you think you belong. For the main character, Beatrice Prior, she battles the life changing decision of feeling as though she doesn't belong in her faction. However, if she chooses to move, she will never see her family again. She renames herself Tris and meets a swoon-worthy boy who must protect her secret.
This book shows the world wonderfully and sets up for the second book, making me want to do nothing but get my hand on the second book, Insurgent!
