I really grew to love Crackdown, to the point that I will occasionally delete the saved game to replay it and relive the experience of upskilling and upgrading all over again. Not many games are ‘keepers’ for me, so I always value a title that has something about it I want to revisit on a regular basis. (Think of oldies like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D … How many times did you go through THOSE?) Crackdown 2 might not have been what some were expecting, but now that I have bought it and had a chance to play it, I would say that if you liked CD, you will grow to like CD2 as well. The graphics have had a nice coat of paint, and one of the most noticeable things is the slight sideways shift in the palette in the ‘Watchmen’ direction: the same cell-shaded cartoony effect as CD with a bit of gaudiness injected into the scheme. While some have bemoaned the fact the the graphics have not leaped ahead like a frog after a nine shot flat white and three Red Bulls, the developers are always faced with some difficult choices in following up a title, and I think the subtlety of the changes work more effectively towards creating a real kinship between the two titles, as opposed to ending up with too jarring a break from a total rework. One decision which has drawn some skeptical criticism was to set the game in exactly the same city, but after some time and general societal degradation have had the opportunity to rough it up a little. Some thought it a sign of a lack of imagination, or laziness, or both … The step has really grown on me as being an interesting and creative one. It's actually cool – so long after playing CD – to go orb hunting and realize as you turn up in an area, ‘Hey … I KNOW this place! Wow .. It's really gone to the pack!’ There's a really interesting mix of recognition and surprise at key areas all over the city. Again, this leads to quite an effective organic connection between the games, like an expansion pack on steroids. All that to say: don't judge too quickly. If you can get this at a good, non-release price (as you can here at the moment), buy it and try it. Let your expectations sit in the back seat for a bit (or better, send them out for snacks) and try to connect with what the developers have tried to do with CD2. And don't feel it has to be compared too much to the first CD and set in opposition – get BOTH. There are enough similarities and differences in the two to make them a worthwhile ‘set’ to own.

"More Crackdown 1.5 Mod than a full sequel."
1 stars"

I'm disapointed to say the least on this title, Ruffian games have been lazy and wasted 3 years of development time. Now, it is Crackdown, which is great because it still holds what made the original great, the sandbox fun.

But you can have that fun, that exact same fun, with the original game for 1/4 of the price.

The story is non existent, like the first game, no change there, the mission structure is do the same thing 9 time over and over, no change there either. The best part of the game is blowing stuff up and collecting orbs to level up..no change there from the original.

Now there is 4 player co-op, the original had 2 player and two has multiplayer which is great, but once again Ruffian has been lazy or something, I wish I knew what, because you have 4 player co-op but have been supplied with a useless map, no waypoints.

The graphics are on par with the original, they are a bit grittier to give the feel that pacific city has gone down hill but overall feel similar, but neither of them are “next-Gen”.

You still have the old favorites weapons wise, machine guns, rockets, grenades etc… but Ruffian did come to the party with cool UV weapons, shotguns that will clear streets, grenade with twists and tanks. Hats off for adding to the toy box there Ruffian.

I love Crackdown, the first game took me by surprise and became one of my all time favorite games, it pains me to write this, but people just go and buy Crackdown 1 for $20 or something and have cheap fun.

"A mix of Fable, Halo and zombies"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

A roaming game with hardcore violence, vehicles and a numerous assortment of brutal weapons. You will find Pacific city fun, exciting and challenging, because you will soon find out that there is not only zombies to kill but terrorists as well! Good luck with the second installment of Crackdown!

"Fun - but far too short" Purchased on Mighty Ape

I finished the single player mode in 12 hours, unacceptably short for a new game. As the previous review suggests, I'd recommend buying Crackdown 1 instead. There is also really nothing new for you in this title if you've played a lot of Crackdown.

Leveling up your skills is the best part in this game. I.e agility, makes you able to jump greater heights. Main story is slightly puts this in perspective after the first game. If your bored of you other games you should get this.

"Crackdown Is A Crackup"
4 stars"

Sometimes a sequel to a game gets judged a bit harshly, but there IS a difference between a title that is more like an expansion pack to a prior release with bells and whistles added, and a complete pooch screwer. CD2 is a good example of the former; if you get it for a good price (as above), it's a great score, and if you liked the first CD you will enjoy being able to do it all again, with some changes and a few coats of gloss. Developing a good sense of correctly anticipating each new release saves a lot of people expecting Jesus Christ and ending up with Paul Holmes, then moaning about it. And again … If something is good but not worth full retail, wait a while and pick it up after a price drop. That way, it seems like more of a bargain and less of a letdown, and everyone's happy. PS: if you haven't played CD, don't choose … Get both. They are both at a good price at the moment and you won't regret it.

"Loads Of Fun!!!!!!"

Crackdown 2 is a game that will keep you entertained for ages because its so fun. Playing to the story is fun but its so fun just to muck around the city with your friends, blowing each other up with crazy powerful explosives.

"Same ol' game"

It's fairly obvious they put about 5 minutes of effort into this one, save your money and buy the first one… it's the same game.

Crackdown 2 is an okay game. Have a bit of fun in the multiplayer games but otherwise there wasn't anything special or next-gen about this game it was just okay. It was alright I guess.

"3rd Person shooting is always fun"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Full of no worries, shoot them, blow them up action. Highly enjoyable destruction. Perfect for those looking to destress from a hard day at the office

"Everyone needs rocket boots."
5 stars"

Awesome city with heaps of open roads or narrow winding ally-ways and plenty of targets. Rocket launcher+industrial area=MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

"Straight-forward, but a little repetitive"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

A great game, controls are easy to master. Driving controls slightly harder to begin with. Easy plot to follow, but quite repetitive, having to complete the same/similar missions in different areas. Not to mention you get attacked by two different groups, one at night and one during the day, so very little chance to wander around and enjoy the rather extensive map.

But overall, a fun game that provides many hours of entertainment.

"Review of Crackdown 2"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The story Line does not seem to carry on from the previous one, however blowing stuff up is always good :)

Still too many orbs :( however back to the blowing stuff up again.

I give it an Average Rating because of the amount of orbs you have to collect and climbing buildings it still problematic, apart from that i like this game.

"Wasn't my type of game"

"Success at sequel"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Originally when i saw the traliers and played the demo to this game i thought they had failed at making a good sequel. But after purchasing it after a great price and having a good full on go of it i can now say they succeeded. It bigger and full of more to not only do but battle with. I feel its been longer than the previous game and still havent finished it yet. Would deffinately recomend to previous Crackdown gamers.

"Intense game"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

When i first opened Crackdown 2 i wasnt sure what to expect but after playing it i can tell anyone who is weary of buying this game to buy it.

The upgrades are wickid and the content is alot of fun. sure it gets abit repetitive sometimes but if you enjoy what your repeating then its great.

"Awesome Co-Op"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game, is an example of how co-op should always be. There is no tether that binds to your other player(s), meaning it's basically your whole city with friends in it. You can go anywhere, do anything, whether your buddy come or not. Also fun as single player, but there is much multiplayer fun to had here.

"It alright"

The story line is plain and I wished it was like the original but I only been through the tutorial but it is really cool so far hope it doesn't disappoint me.

Whether you're playing through the game properly or just playing around with the physics in co-op this game is amazingly fun, a definite must own for all Xbox 360 owners!

"Better than the demo would suggest"

If you liked or never tried the original then definitely worth getting, especially at this price.

"URGGHHHHH JUST DON'T EVEN"

They would of done better making it DLC for the last game. Storyline was awful, missions repetitive, basically just a terrible game.

"Great Game"

"Awesome Game"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Love this game one of the best games ive bought I just keep playing it and playing it and playing it and when I finish the game I just delete my saves and start again

its like Halo was for the Original Xbox its a must have for any xbox gamer

"A great game"
5 stars"

despite being very similar to the first one, this game is great for people of all ages, and is different enough to still be fun. With all sorts of cool features, this is like superhuman GTA, its great for just running around and causing havoc, and is playable for hours despite its somewhat disappointing main quest. Definitely recommend it for people who want to impress their friends.

great co-op also, ive never had such an interesting sandbox experience.

"Very good aye, specially liking the zombies ahah"

Really enjoyed the game. I think the best thing to do in crackdown 2 is get a helicopter and go around collecting orbs :)

"Not as good as part 1"

While there is more to do in this 2nd installment I thought the first game was better. It isn't much of a single player game – it really needs to be played multiplayer to be fun.
